La Damnation De Faust
The Ask.
What began as “We just want simple foreground and backgrounds programmed from Hippotizer Media Servers.” Turned into “We want all interactivity controlled on Grand MA Lighting Desk using DMX, and background and foregrounds for projections.” Faust had what no show at the time did. Interactive curtains, flocks of reactive birds, wall walking soldiers that parted fields of grass as they climbed, even the devil was able to wilt forests of trees.
What I did.
As the Grand MA Lighting desk is highly customizable I built interactive controls as lighting personalities in the desk that could be tracked, edited and programmed into Q’s that along with Hippotizer controls enables real time compositing and previsualization of the shows interactive systems.
How I did it.
With less than 1 month to opening night I offline visualized and programmed the entire operas proprietary Ex Machina interactivity computers interactivity and Hippotizer scenic plates.
What I used to do it.
Grand MA lighting consoles, Hippotizer media servers. What made Faust so remarkable was the use of front and rear projections on a 4 story tall set comprised of light boxes. Each box had retractable screens that when open open or closed added depth or revealed different layers of projections.
